Tips from Kalli June Photography on how to choose the right wedding photographer

3 Tips for Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer

The most common thing that I hear from brides after a wedding day is that “it went by so fast”. Trust me, you’ll be so busy happy crying & dancing that the day will turn into one big, amazing, love-filled blur.

You put so much thought into your wedding day & finding the right photographer will ensure that you get to relive & savor those moments for the rest of your life. So, here are my top 3 tips to help you get there!

Tip No. 1 – See if your personalities & style align

This is SO important. I mean, your wedding photographer is going to be standing right beside you for one of the most important days of your life, you’re going to want to mesh well. Typically photographers have their website or social media designed to showcase their personality & style. Do you feel any emotions looking at their photos? Can you imagine yourself in those photos? Can you relate to their “About Me” section or do you enjoy reading their social media posts? These are all questions I suggest asking yourself to know if they’re a good fit for you & vice versa.

Tip No. 2 – Make sure you’re clear on what you’re getting

A few things that I typically send to a new couple when they inquire are: pricing & what that includes, FAQs & a full online gallery. I don’t ever want there to be any confusion or surprises & giving this info upfront totally avoids that. Chances are you’ve never hired a wedding photographer so you may have a lot of questions or maybe you’re not even sure what questions to ask.

Once you know that they are in your price range & available for your wedding date, I would definitely suggest asking them to send a full gallery, if they didn’t already. This gives you an idea of how they capture an entire day, instead of just seeing the highlights on their site & social media.

If you’re drawing a blank on what other questions to ask your photographer, feel free to check out the Wedding FAQ page on my website to get some ideas!

Tip No. 3 – Read Reviews

This one seems pretty obvious but it’s still worth mentioning. Most of my clients review me on Facebook so that’s probably a good place to start but you can also check Google or sometimes there will be reviews on the photographer’s website.

Well friends, I hope this helps you in your search for the right wedding photographer & I’m more than happy to point you in the right direction if you need help!

Happy planning!
